Let's connect on LinkedInI was given the opportunity to re-design the Honolulu Star-Advertiser‘s subscription process after it was discovered through Google Analytics a large amount of users took no action after landing on the page. The original subscription form was one long form with many input fields and was found to be too daunting to complete. After working out with stakeholders and developers which input fields were absolutely necessary to complete the subscription process, we narrowed down the sign-up process to three steps.
After selecting a package on the subscription gateway, the user will be taken to step 1. The package name, price and features are displayed for reassurance in case the user clicked the wrong package. The first step must be super easy to hook users into completing the rest of the steps. Therefore, the team decided to ask only for an email.
Step 2 asks for delivery information and billing information if it is different.
Step 3 displays a summary of what the user is purchasing and where it will be delivered to. Then it asks for payment information. Upon clicking the Next button, the user will be taken to a confirmation success page.
